STRUCTURE FIRE
PITCAIRN ROAD
   
 

At 02:00 hrs Companies 4, 5, 1 and Command 32 were dispatched for a structure fire reported by the Monroeville Police.  MPD came across a large amount of smoke at the intersection of Northern Pike and Pitcairn Road.  Upon further investigation, they found that the smoke was coming from the vacant/for sale single family dwelling.  E-42 responded with 5 personnel, established a supply line and placed the first attack line into service through the front door.  No visible flames were emitting from the structure, only heavy smoke.  Additional units began arriving shortly after.  E-51 crew placed a back-up line into service to assist E-42 attack crew.  E-12 crew laddered the structure and performed exterior ventilation.   Primary and secondary searches proved negative by T-4 crew.  E-42 crew found the seat of the fire to be in the basement in a smoldering state, which was extinguished and ventilation operations commenced.  No extension noted by interior crews.  ACFM and MPD Detectives notified as the fire appeared suspicious.  Initial crews also reported that the side 3 door was found open upon entry and investigation.  Crew were out for about 2 ½ hours and the ACFM and MPD Detectives investigated for an additional hour
