Plum Station 233 & Monroeville Sta. 194 were dispatched to a vehicle accident w/entrapment on the Pa. Turnpike 55 MP Eastbound, vehicle that ran into a tracter trailer head on going the wrong way in Eastbound lanes. Monroeville R194 and E194 on scene with a female patient (driver) entrapped in vehicle with critical injuries. 2 year old in backseat w/ minor injury removed from vehicle by bystanders. Chief 194 w/command, Monroeville units started extrication, 233 Chief, 233 Rescue, 233 Squad arrived, assisted Monroeville w/extrication & patient removal. Checked area for other victims & contained large area of fluid spill from tractor trailers involved. Plum Ems transported mother and child to Forbes Regional. Command transferred to Chief 233, 233 Rescue remained on scene lighting area for several hours while State Police did investigation.
Turnpike Maintenance handled roadway cleanup for several hours also.
