This humid evening MFD was alerted for a report of heavy smoke in the area of Jefferson Court. C-10 (Chief Reed) arrived and reported heavy smoke with fire showing from a residence. E-51 and E-42 crews arrived putting a two inch attack line as well as a second 1 ¾ hand-line in service as a backup line but due to a firewall couldn't reach the seat of the fire. Within minutes the fire extended throughout the roof. At this time, due to lightweight construction of the roof, crews were pulled out and aerial operations commenced. Once the fire was controlled at the roof level, interior operations began to search for hot spots and fire extension. The scene was turned over to the Allegheny County Fire Marshall for investigation
